Fado vadio in Alfama
Lisbon has many Fado houses, places where you can listen to Fado de Lisboa while having dinner or simply a glass of wine. In most of them you can listen to Fado Vadio which is a more amateur fun style of Fado. In this form of Fado, whoever feels like singing can sing and many times the fadistas will sing in turn improvising verses along the way. The end result is pretty awesome...

The Female Thief's Market
Lisbon's flea market has a very funny name, it's called "Feira da Ladra" which in english means female thief's market. There you can find lots of clothes, antiques, books, CDs, DVDs, sunglasses, jewellery, perfumes, hats, shoes, hand-made artisan goods, stamps, coins, furniture... and, yes, all kind of stollen material (hey, the name has to come from somewhere!).
This saturday, before going to the big protest, we decided to stop at Feira da Ladra to see if we could find a megaphone. We took the famous Tram 28 and arrived near Arco de São Vicente where the market starts.
There was a myriad of small stalls and stretched-out blankets were the traders sell all sorts of second-hand and new (stollen?? I would say so...) products.
shopping for trumperies ...
... and although we couldn't find a megaphone, we found an our lady statue
and some fake boobs for sale
Santa Engracia Church (Lisbon's National Pantheon) seen from the market
and some undecision about whether to buy a hat or retro glasses...
Finally, we went down the hill towards downtown Lisbon for the protest. But this time, instead of taking the tram, we walked trough the narrow streets of Bairro de Alfama and/or Bairro da Graça... at least I think it was Alfama and Graça, the truth is we got slightly lost :p
