Rapa Nui - All That Deep Blue Sea

The incredible blue waters of Rapa Nui. Said to be some of the clearest waters in the world. And when you see it you can't stop wondering where all that blue comes from...

so, we decided to check it out... on a snorkeling trip to the Motu

underwater landscape

the three islets: Motu Iti, Motu Nui and Motu Kao Kao

Rapa Nui - Tortugas

Made a lot of videos of cute turtle during our honeymoon so I decided to share. It's amazing, these turtles LOVE people! Or maybe they just love the green algae we fed them :)

Rapa Nui - Perfect Sunsets

Tahai, the most beautiful place in the world at sunset. Just before the sun starts setting down, people start gathering here to watch the sun being swallowed by the ocean - some will bring wine, others a guitar, others will just be sitting on the grass... And the setting couldn't be more perfect, with three ahu and the ocean as a backdrop.

Rapa Nui - Rano Kau

Just another crater lake or a witch's caldron?

Orongo ceremonial village

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No. It's a petroglyph of the Tangata Manu (so I guess it's sort of a bird)...

Rapa Nui - Cabalgata a Terevaka

Horseback riding to Maunga Terevaka, the highest spot on the island.

and Tongariki at sunrise

Rapa Nui - Las Cuevas

More than seven kilometers of lava tubes and caves forming a labyrinth of underground tunnels throughout the island.

Ana Kai Tangata, a vast cave carved into black cliffs
with beautiful rock paintings of birds

Ana Te Pahu, used by the aborigines as dwellings, its entrance is via a garden planted with sweet potatoes, taro and banana trees

Ana Kakenga, or Dos Ventanas, with two cave openings facing the ocean

Rapa Nui - Las Playas

Ovahe, the secluded pink sand beach at the foot of a volcanic cliff.

Also a great snorkeling spot...

And Anakena, the coconut grove beach with an archaeological site.
