Ring of Fire

"I fell into a burnin' ring of fire
I went down, down, down
And the flames went higher,
And it burns, burn, burns,
The ring of fire, the ring of fire."

Pictures of an old B&W photographic film - Coimbra

Last but not least: Coimbra, my hometown.

The Medieval Fair and the Old Cathedral

The cloisters

Pictures of an old B&W photographic film - Porto

More photos of the same film strip, this time of Porto...

Palácio de Cristal

Serralves em Festa

São Roque

Santa Catarina

Pictures of an old B&W photographic film - Penacova

Here are some pictures I've recently found that were forgotten in an undeveloped photographic film for several years. I like the imprint left by film strip, it makes the photos look so much older then they really are...

Mondego River and its valley seen from the restaurant "Panorâmico" at nightfall

The 23 windmills in Serra da Atalhada... or at least 2 of them

BBQ season has begun

Love to visit my old home in Davis, especially when it's barbeque time :)

Skyline Tour

Finally. My first Yann Tiersen concert...

At the elegant Regency Ballroom with its horseshoe-shaped balcony, golden ceilings and teardrop chandeliers all beautifully wrapped in a beaux arts style.

Fruit Shuffleboard

We had to use mandarins as weights because all the limes were used for the gin and tonic...

here's a video made after some of the gin and tonic and before the geyser attack :)

Bay Bridge Lightning Strike

Last night's thunderstorm. Pretty amazing... and scary!

I stole this photo from Phil McGrew because by this time I was nowhere near Bay Bridge. I was safely at home, watching the storm from my living room window, trying to convince Nuno not to go out onto the balcony to try to save our plants from drowning :)

Lake Michigan

A freshwater inland "sea" with white sand beaches washed by clear blue waters.
Just as beautiful as they say.

Reflecting Surfaces

Surface 1: "The Bean" at Millennium Park.

Surface 2: Gino's East of Chicago's wall.
Besides serving to-die-for deep dish pizzas, the decor consists of walls, tables, chairs, ceiling and pretty much any other surface covered in costumers graffiti. Very cool!

Surface 3: Sears Tower's elevators (among the fastest elevators in the world).
From the 103th floor you can see 4 states: Indiana, Illinois, Michigan and Wisconsin.

3 pairs of feet, 1,353 feet above the ground

Surface 4: Chicago's skyscrapers.
Take an architectural cruise along the Chicago River and learn all about its flow reversal.

Surface 5: Navy Pier's Reflection Pool.
Navy Pier is home to a 15-story Ferris wheel modeled after the first Ferris wheel ever built.
