"Aside from the unintended shortage of food (for which we again apologize and are currently seeking retribution), did you like the reception style of the final congress party or would you prefer a return to the more formal sit-down banquet?"
I think what they're trying to ask is: "Aside from being starved to death... did you enjoy it??"
Oh! Absolutely!! Thank you for asking. That one entire piece of sushi I ate was DE-LI-CIOUS! But I think that next time I would rather stare at my empty plate while sitting at a proper table... you know, as opposed to sitting on the floor... Cause, you see, the plates are heavy... and we do need to save some energy to stand in line waiting to get to the empty tables where someone tells us "C'est fini! Désolé!".
And what do they mean with seeking retribution? Are they going to starve all the members of the catering company, like Diogo suggested? (that might actually be a good idea :P)

Great conference. Saw some really good talks and met some amazing new people. If only we hadn't paid $50 for that farewell dinner where they starved us all to death...
